A 12.2 GHz receiver has been designed and built to observe the 2(0) -
3(-1) E methanol transition. Laboratory tests and first spectral
observations show that its stability and sensitivity are satisfactory.
The observations point out the time stability of methanol maser sources
on a time scale of the order of 2-8 months.
