Images of comet Halley's hydrogen coma were recorded by the ultraviolet imager aboard the Suisei spacecraft from November 26, 1985 to the present (except for the period between January 11 and February 8, 1986). The variation in the Lyman-alpha intensity over time is indicated schematically. The hypothesis that the nuclear surface of Halley is largely covered with a hard substance is confirmed by the occurrence of strong breathing at the hottest phase of the apparition in the same pattern as was observed initially. Photometry was used to determine the positions of outburst sources in one 2.2-day rotational period. It was found that two strong sources and at least four weak sources contribute to this periodic breathing; most of the sources fall on two-thirds of each activity cycle. It is noted that the obtained photometry data are in agreement with a theoretical curve which took the effect of periodic outbursts into account.
