An expression for oblique whistler-mode increment of instability or decrement of damping (gamma) in a hot anisotropic plasma is derived in a form convenient for practical applications; e.g., in magnetospheric conditions. It is pointed out that small thermal corrections to the value of quasi-longitudinal whistler-mode refractive index result in considerable (up to several orders of magnitude) changes of the value of gamma and can even change the sign of gamma.
