The principle of relative indifference is formulated in the framework of the theory of relativity in which all local affine transformations of four-dimensional space-time are permitted as reference systems. Equations describing the relation between the observer and the observed reference system are introduced, and the properties of transformations are examined. A material function is defined and postulated to be observer invariant. The result of observer invariance, covariance, and isotropy of space together is material indifference.
