Photometric and polarimetric observations of the peculiar Object Kuwano (Nova Vul 1979) from August 1979 to December 1980 are reported. In 1979 the brightness remained at V about 9m with no appreciable fluctuations but early in 1980 it began to fade rapidly, reaching a minimum around JD 2 444 500, after which it slowly rose again. During the rapid decline the B - V, U - B color indices increased significantly and the radiation of the object developed noticeable (approximately 1%) intrinsic polarization. During the prolonged minimum B - V decreased somewhat, and the infrared brightness dropped to about half that measured at maximum optical light in April 1979.
