The R-matrix code is used to calculated electron impact excitation rates for transitions in O III. The calculated rates are used to determine the theoretical electron sensitive emission-line ratios R(1) and R(2). The ratios are up to a factor of 2 smaller than those of Bhatia et al. (1982). The results are compared with solar observations from Skylab, showing good agreement.
