The rheological parameters for the Earth model PREM are adopted in this work to study the rotational motion of an elastic Earth. The Hamiltonian theory is applied to calculate the nutation series for the figure axis. The results show that the method is feasible and the numerical value are reliable. The influence of the elastic mantle on the Earth's nutation is only in the milliarcsecond order of magnitude and is much smaller than that of the liquid core.
