The whole crust of a strange star will fall onto the strange quark core when the electric field on the surface is too weak to support the crust. The process of the collapse is studied numerically, which may provide a theoretical clue to distinguish strange stars ~3.4×10-6M?, the whole crust will be accreted in about 5.4×10-3s, and 6.3MeV will be released per baryon as photons. During the collapse, the total energy emitted from the stellar surface is about ~1046-1047 ergs, which could be used to explain some transient phenomena in the universe.
