Optical trapping is a widely used technique with many important applications in biology and applied materials. Modeling of trapping requires calculation of optical forces. The particle-in-cell method will be used to calculate the kinematics of the spherical particles due to optical and electrodynamic forces. The fields and motion are solved self-consistently. We show multiparticle trapping due to a Gaussian beam.
