Relativity Theory: Numerical Methods
Scientific paper
Coalescence of binary neutron stars or black holes is an important
source of gravitational waves. Numerical relativity, where the Einstein
equation is solved as a Cauchy problem using a super-computer, is the
unique method for studying the nonlinear phase of the coalescence. The
author reviews recent developments in numerical relativity.
