Scientific paper
The author has elaborated and/or developed some efficient methods to solve the equation of radiative transfer for different models of planetary and stellar atmospheres. The main results are: (1) the kernel approximation method for isotropically and anisotropically scattering plane-parallel homogeneous atmospheres has been developed. (2) The polarized radiation field in a plane-parallel homogeneous molecular scattering atmosphere has been found. (3) A method exploiting the first principle of invariance of Chandrasekhar has been devised to find the radiation field in inhomogeneous plane-parallel (polarizing) atmospheres. (4) The adding method of van de Hulst has been generalized to find the internal radiation field in an inhomogeneous plane-parallel atmosphere. For all of the itemized results the respective computer codes have been devised, the accuracy of the proposed methods has been estimated (and found to be good) and some model calculations have been carried out.
