The converging cylindrical and spherical shock waves are studied using a numerical simulation. The propagation of the shock wave is investigated using Rusanov's invariant difference scheme. The pressure ratio is taken 4 for comparison purposes, and an extremely high pressure ratio of the order of 10,000 is also used to test the method. The results obtained are in good agreement with the results of Lapidus (1971) and Abarbanel and Goldberg (1972) for the same initial condition.
