The changes of orbital elements of an asteroid whose initial semimajor axis value corresponds to that of a 1:2 resonant orbit are investigated in order to explore the possibility that asteroids between Jupiter and Saturn could be trapped in a resonant relation. Consideration is given to a planar restricted problem of three bodies, sun-Jupiter-asteroid, and then a four-body problem - sun-Jupiter-asteroid-Saturn. Results of the restricted problem show that the semimajor axis and the eccentricity change periodically and that the maximum of the aphelion distance exceeds aS.
