Solutions for the oscillations of a rapidly rotating white dwarf are obtained by solving the linearized equations governing them numerically as an initial value problem. It is found that the picture obtained by consideration of the spherically symmetric nonrotating case has to be completely modified. This is because modes with periods governed essentially by the rotation period exist. The results are compared to the asymptotic theory given by Papaloizou and Pringle (1978), and their application to cataclysmic variables is also discussed.
