An empirical relation is found between the scale length of the
exponential distribution of the surface brightness for Seyfert 1
galaxies and quasars and their nuclear X-ray luminosities. This
indicates a close relation of the nuclear activity with properties of
external regions of Seyfert galaxies and quasars.
