We present the status of our study on the nuclear radio morphology and properties of a sample of 15 γ --ray loud blazars detected by EGRET. The sample, including BL--Lacs and quasars, was imaged at parsec--scale resolution with the EVN and VLBA at 1.6 GHz and 5 GHz. VLA observations at 8.4 GHz and 22 GHz were also undertaken, in order to study the alignment between the parsec and kiloparsec scale radio emission. Beyond the core dominated sources, which is the typical morphology of strongly beamed objects, our images show a variety of structures. New images and a preliminary considerations will be given here.
