In this letter we describe spectroscopic and photometric observations of Nova Cygni 1992 made in February-April 1992 covering the post-maximum epoch. Nova Cygni 1992 can be identified as a 19.5 mag object on the Palomar Sky Atlas. Its absolute magnitude is estimated to have been about -7.7 mag at maximum and its distance about 1.4 kpc. The strongest emission and absorption lines have been identified and the displacements of P Cygni-type absorption components have been measured. The light curve of this comparatively fast nova is also presented.
