In an investigation of gravity anomalies, the paper derives formulas for the normal gravity potential on the surface of a normal earth, given in the form of a level ellipsoid of revolution. Following Pizetti's approach (1933), the derivation is based on the expression obtained by Aleksidze and Kartvelishvili (1969) for the potential of the normal earth, consisting of homogeneous ellipsoidal layers of different density.
