Mathematical-model results on the polar ionosphere are presented with allowance for the noncoincidence of the geographic and magnetic poles for the time-variable electric field of large-scale magnetospheric convection. A method is proposed for calculating the electron density distribution in any local zone of the F-region with allowance for changes in the level of magnetic activity; this method makes it possible to improve models of the high-latitude ionosphere. Good qualitative agreement is obtained between model results and satellite observations.
