A purely temporal problem of mode coupling (Verheest, 1987, 1990) is extended to include spatial effects to determine shock-like exact solutions for the evolution towards steady nonlinear pulsations using recent work by Malfiet (1992). It is noted that more numerical computations are necessary to tally the model solutions with the real evolution of nonlinear pulsation modes.
