It is shown that at all phases of the cycle of solar activity, high-velocity fluxes of solar wind flow around the earth most of the time. It is determined that the M-fluxes give rise not only to the well-known recurring disturbances of the geomagnetic field (primarily at the phase of low solar activity), but also to a large number of nonrecurring disturbances of the geomagnetic field at all other phases of the cycle. In addition, it is found that short-lived M-fluxes create less intensive disturbances than long-lived fluxes.
