Equations are derived from a weakly nonlinear theory which govern the evolution of the progressive as well as the standing waves in superposed fluids in the presence of magnetic fields. It is shown that the waves can be unstable against modulation in the presence of the magnetic fields, and the nonlinear cutoff wave number separating the region of stability from instability is obtained. Both of the fluids considered are assumed to be inviscid, incompressible and perfectly conducting.
