The two-mode coupling of a stellar model has been studied by using coupled van der Pol oscillators. Numerical studies show subharmonic phase-locking in their coupling oscillations. Period-doubling bifurcation accompanied by beats develops with the changes of a parameter. It is suggested that the observed double-periodic stellar pulsations might be subharmonic phase-locking, and not the superposition of two nonsynchronized oscillations.
