On-orbit data from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is examined with a focus on nonlinear interactions. Responses from the HST are compared to responses from laboratory structures with characteristics similar to those of the HST. These laboratory structures exhibit nonlinear interactions. The presence of nonlinear interactions is ascertained by using time histories, response spectra, and modal identification applied with a sliding-window analysis. Nonlinear interactions are indicated in the HST response and may contribute to the disturbance behavior of the HST.
