The physics of the near-earth space environment is examined in an introduction for senior and graduate science and engineering students. Chapters are devoted to plasma physics, solar physics, the solar wind, geomagnetism, the magnetosphere, the neutral atmosphere, the ionosphere, ionospheric variability, radiowave propagation in the ionosphere, and spacecraft operations. Extensive diagrams and graphs and a set of sample problems are provided.
