Oscillations of three neutrinos in matter are analyzed by using the
Magnus expansion for the time-evolution operator. We derive a simple
expression for the electron-neutrino survival probability which is
applied to the examination of the effect of a third neutrino on the
nonadiabatic flavor transformations.
