Observations of the region of Lyα (1103-1360 Å) have been obtained with 0.2 Å spectral resolution, by means of the Copernicus satellite. The central part (1214-1217 Å) was scanned 100 times. No emission is detectable, nor the interstellar Lyα line. All parts of the profile observed with non zero signal are indeed the wings, and are interpreted in the following paper. No evidence for a chromosphere can be derived.
