The gas flux in the inner coma of a comet has a strong influence on the dynamics of a spacecraft in low orbit. Therefore scenarios for campaigns, like the gravity mapping of 46P/Wirtanen on Rosetta have to be carefully planned. In order to estimate the forces on a spacecraft due to the gas flux in the coma, we used the combination of a model of the thermal evolution of a comet nucleus and a hydrodynamic simulation of the gas flux in the inner coma. The nucleus model is a combination of basic thermal 1D-models for a grid of points on a spherical nucleus. Results from this model are taken as inner boundary conditions for a fully time dependent 3D hydrodynamic simulation of the inner coma. The dust fraction and the ice composition of the nucleus can be varied in the model, which also provides estimates of gas production rates along the orbit. The coma simulation implies, that the drag force due to the gas flux will strongly disturb the determination of higher orders of the gravity field inside 3 AU. The evolution of the inner coma with respect to the heliocentric distance is investigated.
