The paper examines the reasons why any kind of geomorphic calendar, modeled on the example of the earth, is totally unsuitable for characterizing Martian seasonal conditions and advance. The chief factors leading to different seasonal characteristics on Mars are the lack of oceanic masses, the small atmospheric density, the large eccentricity of Mars' orbit, and the presence of polar caps. The Martian surface is divided into the three zones, Arctic and Antarctic regions, Northern and Southern temperature zones, and an isothermal belt; a scheme of seasonal advance in each zone is proposed.
