A new high resolution laboratory spectrum of the known A^2^A_1_-X^2^B_1_ electronic transition of NH_2_ has been recorded and analysed between 7030 and 8850 A by means of laser optogalvanic absorption measurements. The rotational analysis was carried out using the published data of flash-photolysis experiments (Johns et al. 1976), analysis results of the emission Fourier transform spectrum (6400-10500A) and combination differences technique in the lower state. Because of the cometary interest of NH_2_, transitions characterized by low rotational quantum numbers are presented (N'<=3, K_a_'<=3). Relative line intensities have also been estimated.
