This letter presents some observational evidence suggesting that the complex system NGC 6052 is, in fact, the result of a collision between two late spirals. As a consequence, a high rate of star formation has been induced both in the area which contains the two central regions of the galaxies and in the outer parts in the form of supergiant H II regions. This newly born stellar population is shown to be superimposed on an older, around KO, stellar component producing the near-infrared emission and containing most of the mass of the object. Both optical and H I data point in favor of late type spirals as the interacting galaxies.
