This research note reports and to some extent explains recent mathematical results on the spectrum of Newtonian adiabatic stellar oscillations. The main results concern the case of polytropic background models with a polytropic index n>0 and an adiabatic index, which is constant near the center as well as near the boundary of the star. For such cases the corresponding spectrum of radial/spheroidal stellar oscillations was shown to be purely discrete/a countable pure point spectrum, respectively.
