A consistent method for describing the Newtonian dynamics of a bounded system composed of a number of perfect-fluid bodies of finite dimensions is described. The system has arbitrary internal structure and internal motions. The problem considered is the conditions under which the dynamical equations for such a system become formally the same as the corresponding equations valid for a system of point-masses. The applicability of the dynamic equations and the time-scale of applicability depend on three ratios which are described. Numerical results for some example cases are presented.
