The visible spectra of 33 white dwarfs, previously given a spectral type of either C2 or DC, have been reexamined using the image intensified dissector scanner on the Kitt Peak 2.1 -m telescope with the following results: two are cool narrow-lined normal DA, five have weak He I lines and thus appear to be cool DB stars, 12 show the Swan bands of the C2 molecule, while five have others such as CH or broad unidentified shallow absorptions in their spectra. One of these latter objects, EG 250, is a known magnetic white dwarf. Out of the original sample of 28 DC stars, only nine now remain with continuous spectra and it is suggested that many DC will have weak features in their spectra if observed using a high enough signal-to-noise ratio.
