The spectrum of the violet system (B 2Sigma-X 2Sigma) of CN was studied in emission and under high resolution using CCl4 as a reagent in a stream of active N2. The following six new vibrational bands have been observed: (5, 7), (6, 8), (8, 10), (9, 9), (9, 11), and (11, 12). Sets of molecular constants were derived for the upper and lower electronic states.
