This paper presents an overall account to the major achievements in the research of sunspots in recent years and existing problems, which includes the observational facilities and techniques, the fine structures and magnetic fields of sunspots, the Evershed effect, the oscillation and MHD waves, the cooling mechanism, the formation and decay of spots as well as some early observational data discovered recently.
