The lag of accuracy in astrometrical observation based on optical methods was demonstrated, and the potential of methods based on new principles (long-base radiointerferometers, laser range finders, optical gyroscopes) to restore astrometry's part in time service, latitude service and earth pole movement observations is examined. Doppler-shift satellite observations in the U.S. are used as an illustration of these new methods.
