Delta Del is a double-lined spectroscopic binary which consists of two nearly identical Delta Scuti variables. Spectra with well-separated components show that the two stars have identical chemical compositions. A revised fine analysis using additional observations and new f-values and taking into account explicitly hyperfine structure broadening for the heaviest elements shows that (1) all metals up to the iron group, including Ca and Sc, are deficient, relative to the sun, by a factor of 2; and (2) the abundances of the heavy elements Sr, Y, Zr, Ba, Ce, La, and Eu are enhanced by factors between 4 and 8 relative to Fe. Both components are thus hybrids between classical Am stars and Delta Scuti stars. While Am stars exhibit marked Ca and Sc deficiencies and do not pulsate, Delta Scuti stars usually are assumed to have a normal chemical composition. This hybrid form between Am and Delta Scuti stars can be understood with Baglin's (1972) explanation of the exclusion between metallicism and pulsation among late A-type stars.
