From 1984 onwards, drastic changes will be made in the ephemerides published by the Bureau des Longitudes, in particular in Connaissance des Temps. Moreover, a system of automatic computation of ephemerides, called EPHAUT, will become available and will permit to elaborate any type of ephemeris. These changes occur at a time when new resolutions of the International Astronomical Union have to be applied and coincide with the achievement of entirely new analytical or semi-analytical theories developed at the Bureau des Longitudes. In order to appreciate the gain brought by the new ephemerides with respect to the old ones, the authors illustrate with a set of curves the differences, over the time period 1978 - 1984, between old and new ephemerides, when they are compared to the same external model: the numerical integration DE 200 - LE 200 of JPL.
