The lifetimes of the 4p2P in aluminum and 5p2P in
gallium were determined together with the branching ratio of the
4p2P in aluminum. The fine-structure components could be
separated. The accuracy in the lifetimes is 2%, a factor 2 more accurate
than the literature data.
