The paper describes the principles of a radio telescope image formation method featuring separate and simultaneous coding of all the possible interferometers between each section of the East-West branch and each section of the North-South branch. Beam synthesis is realized digitally with the aid of an on-line processor. An essential feature of the system is the use of fringe tracking for eliminating the effect of the rapid time variation of the interferometric response.
