We present new results in atmospheric optics that will affect the optimization of high angular resolution techniques in astronomy, such as generalized scidar. A numerical model able to forecast the optical turbulence in a 3-D cube is presented that will have an impact on site testing as well as the implementation of ``flexible scheduling''. Results relevant to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory are shown.
