A review will be given of properties of matter in the interiors of neutron stars. Among topics to be discussed are models of matter at very high densities, including recent studies using realistic potentials that point to the sharp onset of strong tensor correlation s at densities above nuclear matter density, and properties of phases with non-spherical nuclei at subnuclear densities. Consequences for neutron star structure of the calculations of the equation of state, and some finite-temperature and non-equilibrium properties of matter will be described.
