The explanation of elemental and isotopic Ca-Ti-Cr abundance anomalies in certain primitive meteorites involves still unsolved problems. Major deficiencies in earlier model calculations arose from the fact that inadequate nuclear-physics model parameters, e.g. for β-decay half-lives and neutron-capture cross sections, were used for neutron-rich magic-shell isotopes. The authors have recalculated the neutron-capture cross sections in the region of the N = 28 "key" isotopes by replacing the statistical model by the Breit-Wigner resonance formalism and by taking into account the direct-capture contributions.
