The paper examines data on 663 interactions obtained at an installation including an ionization calorimeter and X-ray emulsion chambers. A comparison of the present data with accelerator data shows that an increase of the primary energy from 40 GeV to 10 TeV does not lead to an appreciable change in the spectrum of energetically isolated neutral pions. It is suggested that this fact indicates that the contribution of inelastic charge transfer is conserved in the energy range 5 x 10 to the 10th to 10 to the 13th eV.
