Eta mesons are shown to be generated in significant numbers along with pi mesons in inelastic interactions of protons and alpha particles with a mean energy of 100 TeV with carbon atom nuclei. The transverse momenta of the eta mesons are, on the average, two times greater than those of pi mesons. The mean energy of the eta mesons is several times greater than that of the pi mesons. Eta mesons can thus be the sources of photons in gamma-ray families.
