Model-line profiles and brightness temperature evaluations of the 21-cm line are presented for both the galactic shock theory and the linear density-wave theory in the longitude range of l less than or equal to 100 deg but greater than or equal to 15 deg. Attention is given to the tangential directions of spiral arm and interarm regions as an illustration of differences between the two models. The interarm region appears as a trough in brightness temperature in the shock model, but is not reproduced in the linear model. No significant differences between the models are reported in terminal velocities, if interstellar gas irregularities are considered.
