We provide a preliminary description of the campaign of infrared
spectroscopy of the Shoemaker-Levy 9 (SL-9) impacts carried out at the
Steward Observatory 2.3 m telescope. The data include high resolution (R
= 3500) measurements of the impact sites, monitoring of auroral
emissions, and spectra of two impact fireballs.
