We present an overview of our design study for the Next Generation Space Telescope near-infrared (0.6 - 5 micron) camera. We focus on its capabilities for accomplishing the NGST Core and stretch science goals, and show a preliminary design concept. Aspects of the camera that are reviewed include pixel scale, field of view, throughput, and filter selection. We also consider optional capabilities that deviate from the Yardstick camera concept, such as (1) multiple pixel scales, (2) coronagraphic mode, and (3) the sharing of focal plane arrays among multiple NIR instruments. Issues pertaining to the selection of flight detectors and hardware modularity are also discussed.
