In a statistical study of granulite facies rocks, 32 samples with ages ranging from 2,900 to 200 Myr have been analyzed for Sm, Nd, Rb and Sr and Nd-143/Nd-144 and Sr-87/Sr-86 ratios. The Sm/Nd ratio is found to be constant compared with the highly variable Rb/Sr ratio. Using the model age formalism, it is shown that, in many cases, internal differentiation of continental crust follows external differentiation with a large time interval.
